Getting Started

How do I schedule my first session?
Start with a free 15-minute consultation by booking through our consultation page, calling (858) 215-2234, or emailing [email protected]. During this brief call, we'll discuss your needs and determine if we're a good fit.
What happens during the first session?
The first session is about getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. We'll discuss your concerns, goals, history, and develop a collaborative treatment plan tailored to your needs.
Do I need a referral from a doctor?
No referral is needed. You can reach out directly to schedule your free consultation or first session.

Sessions & Scheduling

How long are therapy sessions?
Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes. Couples sessions are 60-90 minutes depending on needs.
How often will I need to attend sessions?
Most clients attend weekly sessions initially. As progress is made, we may adjust to bi-weekly or monthly sessions. The frequency is tailored to your needs and goals.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
To be respectful of both our time, please provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice will incur the full session fee. Thank you for helping us make the most of our time together.
Are evening or weekend appointments available?
Yes, limited evening and weekend sessions are available. Weekday appointments from 9 AM to 5 PM are most common.

Online vs In-Person

Do you offer online therapy?
Yes. All services are available by telehealth for clients in California and Florida, except walk-and-talk therapy, which is in person only.
Is online therapy as effective as in-person?
Research shows that online therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy for most concerns. Many clients appreciate the convenience and comfort of attending from home.
Where do you see clients in-person?
In-person sessions are available in San Diego, California at 9340 Carmel Mountain Road, San Diego, CA 92129. Walk & Talk sessions can be scheduled at nearby parks or by the ocean.

Insurance & Payment

How much do sessions cost?
Individual sessions are $185. Couples sessions are $220.
Do you accept insurance?
I'm an out-of-network provider, so I don't bill insurance directly. After your sessions I can give you a superbill, a detailed receipt you submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement if your plan has out-of-network benefits (usually a PPO). You can also pay with an HSA or FSA card. My guide to seeing an out-of-network therapist lists the questions to ask your insurer before you start.
What payment methods do you accept?
I accept cash, check, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard), Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, and Health Savings Accounts (HSA).
